About The Cat Lady Rescue and Adoption Center

The Cat Lady Rescue and Adoption Center is a non-profit rescue that will provide a safe, healthy environment for cats and kittens that are in need of a “forever home”.  During the beginning stages, this will be an all volunteer organization.  The rescue will be operating in the State of Colorado (Articles of Incorporation).  The filing of the 501(c)(3) documentation has already occurred and we are awaiting IRS certification at this time.

Mission Statement

The Cat Lady Rescue and Adoption Center, a no-kill, cage free rescue, will  provide a safe haven for cats and kittens in need of a “forever home”.  As a no-kill rescue, The Cat Lady cats will not live under the specter of a “timeline”.  Animals will not be subject to euthanasia as long as they have a positive quality of life.  If a home cannot be found, The Cat Lady cats will be able to live out their entire life at the rescue.

It will also focus on the health and well being of the animals by providing health care, vaccinations, and various medical testing to assure that it adopts out the most healthy pets possible.

The rescue will also advocate community education pertaining to the importance of spaying/neutering, proper care and treatment of pets, and the prevention of animal abuse.

Future Expansion Opportunities

In addition, after establishing our shelter and as funding permits, long term expansion goals include such programs as:

  • An outdoor “barn cat” program to provide a home to feral cats or those that could not be “indoor” pets
  • Discounted spay/neuter programs for the community
  • Emergency health care fund for needy pet owners requiring emergency medical treatment for their pets but do not have the financial means
  • A temporary fostering program for pets owned by women and men who are in abusive or potentially threatening relationships.  Many, for the sake of the pets, do not seek help for fear of abuse to the animals.  The rescue would like to provide assistance to those who may need to relocate their pets temporarily.
  • A trap/neuter/release program to help control feral cat colony populations

About The Owners

Chrystal Gapinski is the founder and owner of The Cat Lady Rescue and Adoption Center.  She is also the owner/operator of The Cat Lady Professional Pet Sitting Service located in Broomfield, CO.

Chrystal, a graduate of Bluefield State College, West Virginia (B.A. – Education), had been a member of the military for nearly 12 years.  After her military career, she developed a singular focus – opening a no-kill, cage free rescue center.

To help reach this goal Chrystal enrolled and graduated from PIMA Medical Institute as a Certified Veterinary Assistant achieving both the Director’s Award and graduating with Honors.  She took this step to learn the details of medical care for cats and kittens so she could work at the rescue effectively.

Rick Gapinski, her husband, will also be playing a major role in the operation of the company.  Rick holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Business Administration, Accounting, and Economics from Lakeland College (Wisconsin) as well as his MBA from Marquette University (Wisconsin).

While Chrystal will be focusing on the day-to-day activities of the shelter, Rick will be instrumental in other aspects including finance, accounting, marketing, fund raising activities, and other related functions.
